The Yardstick

The Nation seems to be getting over the controversial demise of an innocent girl. It was really nice to see the people express their anger on something genuine. Though it was mostly in the digital world and not in the real world, it was applaudable that a worthless-hippocratic-unemployable generation ( in all age groups ) that relies mainly of the alms of those above head, had the spine to stand up for something. Although the cause and their ways of expression were largely debatable, but it was good to see them mark their shameless presence. It reminded me of the hindi proverb - " सत्तर चूहे खाकर बिल्ली हज को चल दी।"

 The main point to be noted here in this case after the technicalities is the hippocratic and rather quick stand taken by some so-called actors like Farhan Akhtar. Also, it was shocking to see that the "peaceful" community and the likewise intellectual section which usually refrain from even singing Vande Matram, stood out with placards stating " I am Hindustan...".
Now this line stood conspicuously in this matter that shed more light on the Temple than the Rape because it is quite obvious that this made up show of a henious crime was aimed at shaking the roots of the faith of a particular community. Questionable is also the J & K government's stand on Rohingyas? Why did they have to relocate them in a region where social homogeneity was for sure to get disturbed? Why it seems that a new wave of Hindu exodus is to be followed in the Region?

However, the Eclipse has finally shifted and its very sad that a poor child had to bear its brunt. That also not a very common child, but a special one - one that belonged to the Gujjar Bakarwals who became pivotal in the Kargil war. These temporary settlers are actually peaceful and their religious chronology leaves no doubt left. Targeting them is nothing but, an attempt to disgrace our theme of unity in diversity. Later branding the deductions that suggested some true colours of the nature of attrocities, Communal ,was an act of utter disgust. How can the so called "harbingers of justice", completely ignore the cries from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Assam, Bihar where the accused is a bearded-devil? I do smell a rat here with reeks of communality.

Nevertheless, the Eclipse will return and chances are, it will be more brutal next time. We need to enhance our preparedness to wartime levels. Only Laws would not be sufficient. We need a better public environment. We need to return to Bharat where the society was so rich that the words of Maa used to be God's command, Bahan was no less the  breathe itself, Bhabhi was Devi-incarnated and the Family which was reflected at all levels was the core of pious existence. We were simple people. We did not have heavy words from Dictionary but, lighter ones with a heart full of humanity. We need to get that back.

But, would it not be ironic to expect human emotions from those who refuse to be grateful to even the Motherland that has fed them for so long?
I hope at least now the bell might have rung to the ears of those advocating to refuge the Rohingyas. You owe it to the inhuman death of Asifa. You should die of shame. Its the least you can do now.
